A shocking assassination has rocked Ukraine.
Former parliamentary speaker Andriy Parubiy has been gunned down in broad daylight in Lviv. But who killed him—and why?
Unverified footage appears to show a gunman disguised as a delivery courier calmly walking behind Parubiy.
He then pulls out a weapon and fires.
Witnesses say the attacker carried a yellow Glovo bag and sped away on an e-bike.
Within hours, police launched a massive manhunt, codenaming the operation Siren.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called it a “terrible murder,” promising that “all necessary forces and means are being deployed.”
Investigators say the shooting was “very carefully planned,” with at least seven shell casings recovered at the scene.
Russia’s Role Yet To Be Dismissed
Parubiy, 54, wasn’t just any politician. He was a central figure in the 2014 Euromaidan protests that toppled pro-Russian leader Viktor Yanukovych.
He later helped defend Ukraine against Moscow-backed separatists and, after Russia’s 2022 invasion, joined territorial defence forces.

Tributes have poured in. “He was a patriot and statesman,” said Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
Former President Petro Poroshenko called the murder “a shot fired at the heart of Ukraine.”
One question now hangs heavy in the air: was this the act of a lone gunman—or something far more sinister?
