What was supposed to be a fun night out in East Hollywood turned into a nightmare.
Around 2 a.m. Saturday, a car slammed into a crowd waiting outside the Vermont Hollywood nightclub.
Thirty people were injured, seven of them critically.
Witnesses say the packed line, mostly women eager to catch a reggae and hip-hop show, had no warning.
A grey Nissan Versa barreled through a taco stand and valet podium before crashing into the crowd.
“The scene was pure chaos,” said LAFD Captain Adam VanGerpen. “People rushed out of the club to help.”
Bystanders didn’t just help the injured—they turned on the driver.
Whos’ The Suspect?
According to LAPD, the man was pulled from the car and beaten before someone in the crowd shot him.
He’s now in the hospital undergoing surgery. Police suspect he was intoxicated.
The shooter? Still on the run. Described as a bald Hispanic man in a blue jersey, possibly armed with a silver revolver.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy,” said L.A. Mayor Karen Bass. “Our thoughts are with all the victims.”
As the investigation unfolds, questions loom: Was this reckless drunkenness or something more sinister?
Either way, L.A. is shaken—and demanding answers.
