Russian Thinker Compares Trump’s America To Putin’s Russia

Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin, often called “Putin’s Brain,” sees a shift in global politics.

He believes Trump’s second term signals a break from globalism and aligns the U.S. more closely with Russia’s vision of national sovereignty.

“Trumpists will understand much better what Russia is, who Putin is, and the motivations of our politics,” Dugin told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria.

The interview comes at a time when Trump is bashing European allies and getting closer to Russia

His comments come amid fresh tensions between Trump and Putin.

Over the weekend, Trump slammed the Russian leader for not committing to a U.S.-backed ceasefire in Ukraine.

He even threatened steep tariffs—25% to 50%—on Russian oil if Putin doesn’t comply. Dugin, however, insists Russia isn’t America’s enemy.

He argues that Trump’s America and Putin’s Russia share common ground, particularly in resisting “European globalism.”

He believes it’s only a matter of time before Trump realizes there’s no real conflict between the two nations.

For years, Trump avoided directly criticizing Putin, even calling him a “genius” during the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

But now, with mounting pressure to take a firm stance, the relationship between the two leaders faces an uncertain road ahead.
