French President Emmanuel Macron is leaning into the AI craze—literally.
In a video posted on his social media, Macron reacts to deepfake versions of himself inserted into everything from an ’80s disco hit to a hair tutorial.
His verdict? “Nicely done.” It’s a clever nod to the AI-generated memes that have been making the rounds in France.
Experts Warn Against Such Normalization
But not everyone is laughing. Some experts warn that normalizing deepfakes, even for fun, could make it harder to distinguish fact from fiction.
“This is not in general a good thing,” says one technology analyst, pointing out the growing concern over misinformation and scams.
Macron, however, sees AI as more than just a playground for viral videos.
He quickly pivots to a more serious message: AI has the potential to transform healthcare, energy, and society at large.
The timing of the video is no coincidence.
Paris is hosting a two-day global AI Summit, bringing together world leaders, tech moguls, and academics to discuss AI’s role in governance, society, and ethics.
