The agency said that a lab-related incident in China is “more likely” than the virus jumping naturally from animals to humans.
However, the agency admitted its confidence in this conclusion is low.
The announcement is one of the first under new CIA Director John Ratcliffe and signals a tone shift.

The lab leak theory says that the virus didn’t originate from animals as many think but rather it was man-made and created in a lab.
Ratcliffe has been vocal about the lab leak theory.
In an interview with Breitbart News, he claimed that Covid likely emerged from a mishap at the Wuhan Institute of Virolog.
This research center is located just 40 minutes from the Huanan wet market where the first outbreak was detected.
While the lab leak theory gains traction in some circles, it remains a divisive topic as many scientists and experts argue there’s still no concrete proof.
