Recently released bodycam footage exposes a disturbing incident at Marcy Correctional Facility in upstate New York.
The video footage shows police officers fatally and brutally beating a handcuffed 43-year-old inmate Robert Brooks.
Brooks died the next morning on 10 December following the assault.
The Video Shows Disturbing Details
The footage, shared by New York Attorney General Letitia James, shows officers repeatedly striking Brooks in the face and groin.
Brooks is seen handcuffed and seated on a medical table as multiple officers strike him brutally.
At one point, an officer appears to force something into his mouth before hitting him, while another uses a shoe to strike his stomach.
Brooks is also seen being lifted by the neck and slammed onto the table.
Attorney James claimed that she would provide “Brooks family, their loved ones, and all New Yorkers with transparency and accountability”
Governor Kathy Hochul responded swiftly, firing 13 officers and a prison nurse involved in the attack.
