ABC News is coughing up $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit with President-elect Donald Trump.
The news organization’s star anchor George Stephanopoulos wrongly accused the President-elect of being found “liable for rape”.
The comment came during a heated March 10th interview where Stephanopoulos repeatedly pressed Congresswoman Nancy Mace about her Trump endorsement.
The Money Will Go To Charity Or Museum
ABC will issue a public note of regret as part of the settlement and pay an additional $1 million toward Trump’s legal fees.
Interestingly, the $15 million will go to a charitable foundation or museum that Trump’s team plans to establish.
The network acknowledged the agreement, saying they’re “pleased to dismiss the lawsuit.”.
This isn’t Trump’s first face-off with lawsuits against the media.
However, past claims against CNN, The New York Times, and the Washington Post haven’t fared either.
