Passengers Rushed Out As Live Bullet Hits Near Cockpit on Runway

A Southwest Airlines flight preparing for departure at Dallas Love Field Airport was struck by gunfire on Friday night.

The incident involved Flight 2494, a Boeing 737-800 Max aircraft bound for Indianapolis.

The bullet hit the right side of the plane under the flight deck which forced the authorities to empty the plane of passengers.

Random Gunfire

According to the initial investigation, the bullet struck the right side of the plane near the flight deck but didn’t hit anyone.

The Dallas Police Department is leading the investigation and the department suggests that the shooting may have been random gunfire.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the bullet struck near the cockpit of the aircraft when it was about to depart.

This is the second such incident of a similar nature, according to the Associated Press.

Earlier in the week, three planes in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, were hit by gunfire amid escalating gang violence.
