Residents woke up shocked when an explosion rocked a quiet street in Queens early Friday morning.
When everything settled, emergency services told the media that the plumber’s work truck exploded as it was loaded with pressurized gas cylinders.
Upon further investigation, the driver told the New York Post that additional lithium-ion batteries were handled safely.
No One Was Injured
The CCTV footage released followed by the explosion showed an unoccupied Infiniti QX56 erupting into flames around 6:45 a.m.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident which could have easily injured bystanders.
What Did The Truck Driver Say?
The truck belonged to Dinell Harricharan, a plumber who had parked it at his brother’s house overnight.
Harricharan explained that the vehicle was essential to his business, adding, “The car’s our lifeline.”
He said he is collaborating with the police to investigate the matter further.
