Humanity has disrupted the global water cycle for the first time in history that could lead to disastrous consequences for the future, a new report mentioned.
The report by the Global Commission on the Economics of Water highlights how decades of poor land use and water mismanagement have threatened billions of lives across the planet.
Half of World’s Food At Risk
The report revealed that more than half the world’s food production will be at risk of failure in the next 25 years due to the disruption.
The world is expected to see an increase in conflicts and wars over water that will significantly escalate the chances of nuclear apocalypse, the report observed.
Water Requirements Underestimated
The report estimates that people require about 4,000 liters of water daily to lead a “dignified life.”
The numbers far exceed the basic 50-100 liters suggested by the United Nations, which is a significant miscalculation.
