The United States has seized a plane allegedly connected to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro for US sanctions law.
The Justice Department claimed that the 900EX plane was purchased illegally for $13 million and smuggled out of Venezuela, later transferred to Florida.
The Falcon 900EX aircraft was seized in the Dominican Republic and then transferred to Florida.
Links To Maduro Concealed
The US Justice Department stated that the plane was acquired by a Caribbean-based shell company to hide its links to the Venezuelan President.
The U.S. argues that the plane’s purchase and export violated sanctions and export control laws which it had imposed on Venezuela for being a rogue state.
Venezuela Denounces Action
Venezuela has denounced the action and stated that it reserves the right to take legal action to address the situation.
US officials highlighted that the plane was illegally Smuggled out from the US to Venezuela and was frequently used by Maduro from its country’s military base.
