X, formerly Twitter, and its CEO has filed a lawsuit challenging companies for boycotting the mini blog platform.
Elon Musk mentioned Unilever, Mars, CVS Health and Orsted in his lawsuit for withholding spendings on advertisements on X when the platform was bought by SpaceX head.
Musk alleges that the boycott over concerns of the presence of harmful content on the platform has cost him billions in revenues.
Why Companies Boycotted X?
As soon as Mr. Musk took over X, major companies started to migrate from the platform over concerns that he might be easy on removing harmful content.
X chief executive Linda Yaccarino said the boycott deprived the company of its “ability to thrive in the future”.
Lawsuit To Not Succeed
Meanwhile, legal experts are skeptical whether the lawsuit would succeed.
Legal experts who talked to the BBC suggested that the lawsuit is difficult to succeed as boycott is not an anti-trust violation and is protected under the First Amendment.
