US President Joe Biden has blamed travel for his disastrous debate performance with Donald Trump despite landing weeks ago.
Mr. Biden returned from his last trip on 15 June, 12 days before the debate with aides saying he spent several days in Camp David to prepare for the debate.
Biden Nearly Fell on Stage
Speaking at a private fundraiser in Virginia on Tuesday evening, Joe Biden said he nearly fell asleep on stage as he traveled frequently.
“I didn’t listen to my staff… and then I nearly fell asleep on stage,” he said at the event.
Previous White House Statements
The White House previously claimed that the President was battling a cold during the debate but Biden didn’t mention it in the speech.
The President’s remarks echoed the intense criticism Mr. Biden is facing from its party and voters who have expressed concerns about his age and mental capacity.
