Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot a couple of times in an assassination bid on his life and was transferred to hospital where he is undergoing a surgery.
Reuters reported that Robert Fico is in a life-threatening condition after it received an email from the government.
The PM security officials have detained a man who allegedly carried out the shooting, media reports suggest.
PM is In Critical Condition
The Prime Minister is undergoing a surgery and his condition is considered as life threatening.
He received three bullets, one to arm, one to his leg and the third one to his stomach. Fico’s Facebook page said in a statement that “there was an assassination attempt on R. Fico.
He was shot multiple times and is currently in a life-threatening condition. The next few hours will be decisive.”
Video footage shared by Reuters shows security officials dragging the Prime Minister to a car and rushing towards a medical facility in Banska Bystrica.
There has been no confirmation about the motive of the attacker but the government has initiated an investigation.
