Former US Ambassador Admits To Spying For Cuba For 40 Years

The former ambassador of the United States to Bolivia has pleaded guilty to spying for the Cuban government for more than 40 years.

Mr. Victor Manuel Rocha has been acting as a spy for the Communist Cuban government since 1981, becoming one of the most high-profile espionage cases in the history of the US.

Who Is Victor Manuel Rocha?

Rocha, a Colomban-born man having resentment against the US despite his being in the State Department, worked for Cuban intelligence since 1981.

The US government alleged that Rocha landed positions in the State Department starting in 1981 that enabled him to access classified information, and the ability to affect US foreign policy.

Rocha was actively working as an agent of foreign government till his arrest in December 2023.

The 73-year-old diplomat served as US ambassador to Bolivia from 1999 to 2002 and worked in different government roles including 25 years in the National Security Council.
