A former DEA informant has been sentenced to life in prison for killing the former President of Haiti.
Joseph Vincent, a former informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration will spend the rest of his life in prison for his role in assainsation of Haiti President Jovenel Moïse in 2021.
Suspect is Ex-DEA Informant
Vincent, dual US-Haiti national, helped in the assassination of the former Haitian President, in 2021.
The suspect admitted to helping in the plot along with 11 other defendants in the case, who supplied weapons and funds for the assault.
The deceased president’s residence was attacked at nighttime when multiple gunmen stormed inside and started shooting.
Gunmen Said They Were From DEA
The Haitian ambassador to Washington, Bocchit Edmond said at the time that the suspects “presented themselves as DEA agents, telling people they had come as part of a DEA operation.” The DEA later said that Vincent and those involved were not working on behalf of the agency.
