Vietnam War Veteran Copes With PTSD Offering Free Home Repairs

Retired Vietnam War veteran Danny Chauvin, known as the “honey-do dude” in Waveland, Mississippi, copes with grief and post-traumatic stress by offering free handyman services.

As a former US Army soldier, Chauvin fought in Vietnam but developed PTSD after the war ended. After his wife’s death in 2022, Chauvin started helping single women in their honey do jobs.

Chauvin’s Message

Following his wife’s death, Chauvin, 76, channels his skills into helping others. His acts of kindness, posted on a Facebook group, quickly gained popularity in his community.

“Any single woman needing honey do job they can’t do themselves I am willing to see if I can do it for you FREE because I lost my wife of 53 years and I am trying to stay busy by helping others !!!” he posted in a Facebook group.

Widowed or single women in need reach out to Chauvin, who tackles tasks ranging from plumbing to installing fixtures.

Sometimes, Chauvin completes four jobs daily, and he doesn’t charge a cent to those who retain his services.
