Armed Gunmen Stormed Major TV Station During Live Broadcast

A group of armed men stormed a major television station in Ecuador and took multiple staff members as hostages.

The President declared a state of internal conflict emergency amid increasing unrest across the South American country.

Police special forces later took control and arrested all the masked gunmen.

Internal Armed Conflict

The President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, enforced an “Internal Armed Conflict” emergency when the armed gunmen took control of the TC Televisión network in Ecuador’s largest city.

Alina Manrique, the head of news for TC Television, said she was in the control room when the masked men armed with pistols, shotguns, machine guns, and grenades stormed the building.

It is speculated that the powerful drug gang Los Choneros is behind the terrorist act.

Reporters Pleaded For Help

The local newspaper El Universo reported that the reporters and journalists inside the building pleaded for help as gunmen showed them arms.

Police commander César Zapata told the media that this was a terrorist act that should not have taken place.
