US Thwarts Indian Plot To Assassinate Sikh Leader

The US has thwarted an assassination attempt by the Indian government.

The Financial Times report said an alleged attack on one of the Sikh leaders based in the US was thwarted on time by the intervention of US security officials.

The US has issued a warning to the Indian government over its possible involvement in a plot.

India Targets Sikh Leader

A report by the Financial Times wrote that the target of the attack was Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Sikh separatist leader.

Mr. Pannun is a New York-based lawyer who is also a Canadian citizen.

The incident took place months after the assassination of another prominent Canadian Sikh leader named Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nature of Plot Unknown

The report didn’t reveal further details of the plot due to the sensitive nature of the case.

The Indian Foreign Ministry has not commented on the matter yet, which is expected to be negative.

The Modi-led Indian government has already been facing problems after it was accused of Nijjar’s murder.
