The former head of the Spanish football federation has been banned for three years.
FIFA banned the former President Luis Rubiales for three years after he kissed a female Spanish football player.
Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso on the lips after the World Cup final victory over England.
Hermoso Filed Legal Complaint
Spanish Women Football forward Jenni Hermoso filed a legal complaint against the president after the non consensual kiss.
FIFA imposed the three-year ban on Rubiales accusing him of breaching article 13 of the disciplinary code.
“FIFA reiterates its absolute commitment to respecting and protecting the integrity of all people”, FIFA said in a statement after the verdict.
Why FIFA Banned Rubiales?
The former President found himself in hot water when he kissed Hermoso after Spain’s victory over England in the final.
The act created controversy which led to his dismissal from the presidency.
He is also facing criminal investigation in Spain but denies any wrongdoing.
