Three armed men stole Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar’s vehicle when he was about to park it.
The congressman’s office said he was unharmed, but the armed men managed to take away his vehicle. His vehicle was later recovered, the Associated Press reported.
What Happened?
Henry’s office stated that as the congressman was parking his car on Monday evening, three armed men besieged his car.
The armed men surrounded his vehicle and stole Henry’s vehicle at gunpoint. Surprisingly enough, the carjacking took place just a mile away from the US capitol.
Second Assault on Member of Congress
The incident was the second assault on a member of congress in the Columbian district, this year. In February, Minnesota Representative Angie Craig was attacked inside an elevator at her apartment.
The carjacking took place two weeks after members of the congress and capitol hill staff discussed public safety measures in the neighborhoods.
