Brutal Heat Waves Blamed For 13 Deaths in Texas

Some of the major cities in the Southeast US have come under severe heat waves in recent days with some places recording 115 degrees. At least 13 deaths were reported in Texas and Louisiana due to extreme heat waves, according to the authorities.

The Hottest Place On Earth

The heat waves and increasing temperatures in Texas and southeast, made the region the hottest place on earth. Several cities in Texas surpassed 110 degrees Fahrenheit, competing with temperatures in Africa and the Middle East. Rio Grande Village in Texas was hotter than the Death Valley with a record 115 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

Power Outages

As if the miseries weren’t enough, the huge demand of cool air burdened the power house, leaving 10,000 in Arkansas without power supply. The effect of heat waves coupled with “no-electricity” could be devastating as excessive sweating can cause heat strokes.
