The teen birth rates in the US have decreased to historic low levels in 2022, according to a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report mentioned that the birth rate in teenagers dropped by 3% in 2022 which was 13.9 per 1,000 females in 2021.
Teen Birth Rate On Decline
The report released by the CDC which focused on teens in between 15- to 19-year-olds, revealed that the birth rate among teens has been continuously declining for the past three decades, since 1991. Although the decrease was a little less as compared to the previous reports, experts were happy with the progress the youth have made so far.
A Good Sign
The teen birth rate in 2022 stood at around 13.5 per 1,000 females, a positive sign appreciated by the health experts. Most of the pregnancies in early teens or twenties are unplanned and could create problems affecting the future life of young girls, Karen Guzzo from the University of North Carolina said.
