A government official was suspended after news surfaced that he emptied an entire water reservoir to recover a phone. A government employee named Rajesh Vishwas pumped out millions of liters of water from the Kherkatta Dam located in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
Dam Was Emptied In 3 Days
According to the local media, it took three days for the local administration to pump out 2 million liters of water. Rajesh said he was permitted to do so as the water would help the farmers nearby. The authorities took notice of the incident and suspended Rajesh accusing him of misusing his authority for personal interests.
The Phone Was Found
Although the local divers were successful in finding his phone, his phone was so waterlogged that it didn’t work. The incident prompted serious criticism from the opposition party accusing the officer of wasting a precious resource for a $1000 phone.
