World’s Most Expensive License Plate Sold for $15 Million

The world’s most expensive number plate was sold in UAE’s charity auction. The car license plate number P 7 was sold for a record-breaking 55 million dirhams (equivalent to $15 million) in Dubai, purchased by a wealthy bidder. This sale has surpassed the previous record set over a decade ago in the United Arab Emirates.

P 7 Sets Guinness World Record

The number plate set the Guinness world record for being the world’s most expensive license plate number. The initiative was held at the “Most Noble Numbers” with the collaboration of Dubai ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. The auction has surpassed the previous record, which was set in 2008 by a local entrepreneur named Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri. Saeed spent 52.2 million dirhams to purchase a license plate with the number “1”.

Money Will Go To Charity

The auction will contribute all its earnings to support the ‘1 Billion Meals Endowment’ initiative, aimed at reducing poverty inside and outside the UAE. The event was organized under the directives of the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
