A new study shows healthy food habits can improve thoughts, mood, and overall mental health. Assistant Professor, Dr. Monica Dus studies the effects of nutrition on the overall well-being and physiology of human beings.
A Healthy Diet Is The Key
Dr. Dus mentions that a healthy and balanced diet is key to a healthy brain that affects how we perceive the world. According to Dr. Dus Vitamin C is an essential micronutrient that is required by the brain to communicate properly otherwise, the deficiency of Vitamin C can cause hallucinations which can affect our lifestyles badly.
Ketogenic Diet And Its Effects
Scientists and Doctors around the world have not yet been able to treat genetic mental disorders but they are working to reduce the effects by recommending healthy food consumption that significantly improves mental health problems.
A diet low in carbohydrates, a ketogenic diet, can reduce the risk of epilepsy. A diet low in carbohydrates causes massive changes to the brain, physiology and metabolism because the body uses fat as an energy source.
Such changes can reduce the risk of seizures in epilepsy. One of the most mind-blowing surprises is that food alters the flow of genetic information, meaning that what we eat is more than fuel, it is also “information“, says Dr. Monica Dus.
Bad Diet Can Reduce Taste Sensitivity
The study also shows the important relationship between a diet with taste. The research shows that consuming high amounts of sugar can actually reduce taste sensitivity and can also lead to overeating processed food which can seriously harm mental health and can lead to obesity.
