A shooting outside a high school in western Turkey has left 11 people injured, with two reportedly in critical condition.
Police have detained a 15-year-old student suspected of carrying out the attack.
The incident happened Tuesday morning at Inci Uzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Manisa.
What led to the shooting? Authorities have not yet established a motive.
Turkey’s Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said the suspect’s parents and grandfather were also detained.
The grandfather reportedly owned the weapon used in the attack.
School Safety Concerns Grow
Footage appearing to show the suspect checking a shotgun before walking through nearby streets has emerged.
Later images reportedly showed him fleeing the scene while still holding the weapon.
The attack has renewed concerns over school safety in Turkey.
It is reportedly the country’s third school shooting this year, following two deadly attacks in April that prompted tighter security and gun-control measures.
Turkey’s education ministry said the incident had “deeply saddened our nation” and sent three investigators to Manisa.
Under Turkish law, the teenager must appear before a court before any formal arrest.
