A wolf on the loose—sounds like something out of a movie, right? But for residents of Daejeon, it’s a very real situation.
It all began when a young male wolf, barely a year old and weighing around 30 kilograms, managed to escape from a zoo inside a local theme park.
How? Officials say it dug under a fence—simple, yet surprisingly effective.
Since then, it’s been roaming free, even spotted casually walking along a road.
Naturally, panic followed. A nearby school shut its doors for the day. Parents worried.

Search Efforts Intensify
Authorities scrambled. Over 300 personnel—firefighters, police, even military troops—have joined the search.
Drones were deployed, but heavy rain forced them back. So now the question is: where is the wolf hiding?
Officials admit this isn’t easy. “We’re doing everything we can,” one responder said, highlighting the challenges of tracking an animal in unpredictable terrain.
If this feels familiar, you’re not wrong. Remember the zebra escape in 2023? That ended safely—but will this?
For now, one thing is clear: in a city of millions, it only takes one missing animal to turn an ordinary day into a real-life thriller.
