Trump Says US Will Run Venezuela After Capturing Maduro

Trump Says US Will Run Venezuela After Capturing Maduro.

It sounds like a Hollywood script — but it’s now dominating headlines.

US President Donald Trump says America has taken temporary control of Venezuela after a dramatic overnight raid.

It allegedly captured President Nicolás Maduro and flew him to New York to face drug-trafficking charges.

Speaking at his Mar-a-Lago resort, Trump framed the move as a stopgap.

“We’ll run the country until there’s a safe and proper transition,” he said.

The reason? He claimed the US couldn’t risk Venezuela falling into the “wrong hands.”

So what’s the plan? Trump hinted that major US oil companies would step in to revive Venezuela’s crumbling oil sector — a process experts warn could take years.

Critics, however, questioned whether oil was the real motive.

Especially after missile strikes and power outages hit parts of Caracas during the operation.

Legal And Political Fallout

Back in Venezuela, officials called it a “kidnapping.”

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez demanded Maduro’s release and was later named interim president by a local court.

Meanwhile, legal experts in the US raised alarms over the legality of seizing a foreign head of state.

Lawmakers asked the obvious question: what happens next?

Trump didn’t offer many details — only that officials standing beside him would “oversee” things and that sending US troops was “on the table.”

History offers plenty of cautionary tales. Whether this becomes a quick handover remains the big unanswered question.

Or another long, costly chapter remains the big unanswered question.
