A quiet Moscow morning turned deadly in seconds.
A parked car. A sudden blast. And another senior Russian military figure gone.
Officials say Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov, a high-ranking commander responsible for operational training in Russia’s armed forces, was killed.
A bomb planted beneath his car exploded on Monday.
He was 56 and later died in hospital from his injuries.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a murder probe.
One possible theory points to Ukrainian intelligence involvement — though Kyiv has made no comment.
Targeted Killing Suspected
Investigators swarmed a car park near a residential block in southern Moscow, where images showed a white vehicle torn apart, its doors blown clear off.
Sarvarov wasn’t a desk general. Russian media report he served in the Ossetian-Ingush conflict and fought in the Chechen wars.
He later commanded operations in Syria between 2015 and 2016.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin was informed immediately.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, a string of targeted killings has rattled Moscow.
From nationalist figure Darya Dugina to senior generals killed by car bombs and hidden devices.
The message? Moscow’s streets are no longer just political battlegrounds — they’re becoming active front lines.
And the question lingers: who’s next?
