A dramatic immigration arrest in Los Angeles turned violent Tuesday.
A well-known TikTok creator and a US marshal were both injured by gunfire.
Federal officials say 44-year-old Carlitos Ricardo Parias—known online as “Richard LA”—allegedly rammed his car.
He crashed into law enforcement vehicles. He was trying to escape an immigration arrest.
Shots were fired. Parias was hit in the elbow, while a US marshal was struck in the hand by a ricochet.
Both were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
“A vehicle is a deadly weapon,” acting US Attorney Bill Essayli said, defending the agents’ response.
Tensions Over Immigration
Parias, a Mexican national who has documented immigration raids in South Los Angeles for months, was charged with assaulting a federal officer.
Once praised by a city councilman for “uplifting unheard voices,” he’s now at the center of a federal case. His court hearing has been postponed.

Officials blame “rhetoric by sanctuary politicians” for emboldening suspects, saying threats against officers have jumped over 1,000%.
But supporters see Parias as a citizen journalist caught in the middle of a political crackdown.
As Trump’s administration intensifies immigration raids, tensions in Southern California are boiling.
And now, a man who once filmed the raids has become their latest headline.
