What happens when trouble quite literally knocks at the Prime Minister’s door?
For Keir Starmer, it came in the form of flames.
In the early hours of Monday, a fire broke out at Starmer’s private residence in Kentish Town, north London.
Thankfully, no one was hurt—but the blaze, which damaged the property’s entrance, raised serious alarms.
And it wasn’t the only one.
A series of suspicious fires, including one at another home linked to the PM and even a nearby car.
They now form part of a growing investigation.
Police have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
He remains in custody, and yes—counter-terrorism officers are on the case.
Why The Heavy Response?
The Met says they’re playing it safe, citing the home’s connection to a high-profile public figure.
“With any incident, there are always important concerns,” said Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.
She urged public patience as the investigation unfolds.

Starmer, who’s been living at 10 Downing Street since July, offered a brief thanks to emergency services.
He’s keeping further comments under wraps for now.
