How many millions can sink before someone asks, “What’s going on out there?”
Since mid-March, the U.S. has lost seven of its MQ-9 Reaper drones near Yemen—each one worth around $30 million.
That’s over $200 million in high-tech hardware, gone.
Just like that. And the hits keep coming.
The Navy recently confirmed a $67 million F/A-18E Super Hornet fell off the USS Harry S. Truman.
The jet was being towed when the crew lost control—along with the tow tractor.
Both splashed into the Red Sea.
“The aircraft and tow tractor were lost overboard,” the Navy said bluntly.

These Aren’t Isolated Mishaps
Another Super Hornet was accidentally shot down—yes, shot down.
By a U.S. missile cruiser just months ago.
Meanwhile, American forces have struck over 800 targets in Yemen.
They are trying to dismantle the Iran-backed Huthis, who’ve been hammering Red Sea shipping lanes in support of Gaza.
But the air campaign is costly—not just in targets hit, but in equipment lost.
And just as the Pentagon tallies its tech losses, reports say a U.S. strike may have hit a migrant detention center, killing dozens.
