Global Economy Faces a 50% Collapse by 2090, Scientists Warn

Imagine a world where half of the global economy evaporates, and billions of lives are at stake.

A new report by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) paints this devastating picture in its latest report.

The report warns of a devastating 50% loss of GPD by the end of this century due to climate change.

The report suggests immediate reforms to tackle the problem of climate change

What Does The Report Say?

Collaborating with the University of Exeter, the IFoA predicts that fires, floods, droughts, and ecosystem breakdown could slash global GDP by 50% between 2070 and 2090.

The report paints a grim picture of reality ahead if immediate action isn’t taken to decarbonize and restore nature.

Their findings come on the heels of alarming data showing the Earth already breached the critical 1.5°C warming limit in 2024, supercharging extreme weather events worldwide.

Sandy Trust, the report’s lead author, didn’t mince words: “We’re on the brink of planetary insolvency.”

Traditional economic models, which downplay the severity of climate impacts, are blinding leaders to the true stakes.
