What happens when a holiday bonus request turns into a crime spree?
Authorities say 29-year-old Heather Nelson responded to rejection with violence—attacking and robbing the very woman she was supposed to care for.
On Christmas Eve, a housekeeper named Nelson turned on her 83-year-old employer after being told there wasn’t enough money for a bonus.
What followed was a brazen act of theft and fraud.
What Did She Do?
“She actually took the check by force,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tod Goodyear.
“She stole Christmas cards with money, credit and debit cards, and even forged checks to drain the victim’s accounts.”
Investigators say Nelson forged a check for $1,400—far more than the $500 she initially requested—and used the money to pay her rent.
The elderly victim was left injured and financially devastated. After piecing together the evidence, deputies arrested Nelson on January 7.
She now faces multiple felony charges, including robbery, forgery, and fraud.
