Donald Trump is once again eyeing Greenland by declaring he wants the U.S. to acquire the mineral-rich Arctic island.
Trump didn’t even rule out doing so by “economic or military means if necessary”
“Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Why Trump is Threatening Greeland?
Donald Trump Jr. even made a private visit to the island after Trump’s continued threatening remarks.
Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, is strategically vital due to its location between the U.S., Russia, and Europe.
As Arctic ice melts, new shipping routes are opening, making control over the region even more crucial.
The island is also home to the northernmost U.S. military base. “We need Greenland for national security,” Trump said.
“China and Russia are everywhere—we’re not letting that happen,” he mentioned.
The news concerns European leaders who consider Greenland its sovereign territory.
