The fears of an all-out regional war grew as the Iranian military fired more than 180 ballistic missiles towards Israel.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that most of the projectiles were intercepted in the air but Iran claims otherwise.

Why did Iran attack Israel?
Millions of people in Israel rushed to the shelters as air raid sirens went off in Tel Aviv.
Video footage authenticated by the BBC and The Guardian showed a barrage of ballistic missiles hurling towards its targets, lightening up the skies in Israel.
Israel, with the help of the US and the UK, was able to shot down most of the missiles and made them ineffective, the IDF said.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that the attack was in response to Israel’s assassination of its key leader in Lebanon.
