US And China Holds High Level Military Talks For First Time

The United States and the Chinese government have held high-level military talks for the very first time, Reuters reported.

The Chinese authorities were quoted as saying the talks were aimed at stabilizing relations as ties remained strained despite high-level engagements.

Both the military heads of the regions underscored the importance of stable ties and opening up military-to-military contact.

The latest engagement follows the high-stake visit of the US national security adviser, Jake Sullivan.

Ties Expected To Stabilize?

The engagement led by the head of the US Indo-Pacific command, Adm Sam Paparo, said they engaged with China over multiple issues, specifically Taiwan.

The US and western allies are concerned about China’s increasingly aggressive approach in the South-China Sea where the Chinese military is threatening Taiwan.

The latest engagement follows the high-stake visit of the US national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, who met the Chinese President.

The ties are nor expected to yield anything as the People’s Liberation Army conducts military exercises with Russia and is still threatening Taiwan.
