US Veteran Who Lost Most of His Face Making Progress, Researchers Say

A US veteran soldier who lost most of his face when an electrical cable touched the left side of his is now making good progress.

Researchers said Aaron James’ recovery is not less than a miracle as he was in a terrible situation when he was brought to the hospital with no face and eyesight.

Now Mr. Jamess donor eye has normal blood pressure and has not shown negative signs although the eye is yet to help him with his surroundings.

James Went Through World’s First Eye Transplant

The 46-year-old US military veteran is the 49th person in the United States to have undergone the face transplant and the first in the world to have gone through the world’s first eye transplant.

Now, he says, he is “being a normal guy, doing normal things.”

Researchers involved in the study said James’ situation has helped them understand how to deal with such complex issues including restoring lost eyesight.
