A group of 15 people were detained by the Turkish authorities after they physically assaulted two US marines in Izmir.
The videos taken by the people involved in the assault showed a man holding the two Marines while one man put a cloth over one.
The Marines were calling for help while no one dared to do so as those assaulting the marines were many and belonged to an extremist nationalist party.
Turkish Police Arrests 15
At least 15 people were taken into custody by the Turkish police accusing them of assaulting foreign nationals.
The group responsible for the assault is known in Turkey by the name of “Turkish Youth Union”, which said the assault was a response to US policy in the Middle East.
US Embassy Thanked Turkish Authorities
The US Embassy in the Turkish capital, Ankara, confirmed the incident and thanked the government for the swift response.
The suspects can be heard shouting “Yankee, go home!” during the attack.
