For the very first time in the conflict, the Ukrainian military has targeted Russian military targets deep inside its territory with US supplied weapons.
The New York Times published a video on its website claiming to be burning Russian equipment in Belgorod, 20 kilometers deep inside Russian territory.
Times Confirms The Video
The New York Times said they have confirmed the video which shows a huge fire rising to the skies after a missile hit.
The report mentioned that the Ukrainian military used a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, to target inside Russian territory.
The system is an American made surface to surface launcher with a proven range up to 300 km.
Ukraine Acknowledges
For the very first time, a senior Ukrainian military official has confirmed that the strikes were carried out with US-made weapons.
Yehor Chernev, member of the Ukrainian parliament on national security, confirmed that Ukraine destroyed S-300 and S-400 missile systems.
