The People’s Liberation Army of China is known to carry out military drills around Taiwan but the latest drills moved a little far.
The latest two-day military drills included the Chinese Air Force, the Navy, the Army and covered more area as compared to previous drills.
The area of operations could indicate China’s intent to attack and take over the island in the near future.
Taiwan New President
The Chinese military dispatched a strong force of 49 aircraft, 19 naval ships and seven coast guard vessels to encircle the self-ruled island just after the new Taiwanese President took over.
According to political experts, Mr. Lai Ching Te is an anti-China President and that is why China went a little extra in sending a strong message this time.
PLA Covered More Area
The area that the PLA covered is way beyond what it used to cover in previous drills, indicating a potential takeover.
The commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Adm. John Aquilino, indicated in April that China will most probably take over Taiwan by 2027, but count down seemed to have begun in 2024.
