At least 13 people have been injured after multiple crashes involving 40 cars were reported on Maryland bridge.
The bridge was temporarily closed for public transport, but the transport continued once authorities issued another statement.
13 Injured
The Maryland transportation authority said at least 13 people have been injured in the multivehicle crash on westbound lanes and warned of major delays.
The crash initially involved 23 vehicles in a “chain-reaction crash on the westbound span” and 20 additional vehicles crashed a while after.
The authorities said at least 2 people were seriously injured in the crash.
Bridge Reopened
Few hours after the first statement, a second statement announced the opening of the bridge for public transport.
“All lanes at the Bay Bridge have reopened”, MDTA said on X, formerly Twitter.
Transport officials don’t know what exactly caused the crash but investigation remains underway.
