Protesters Set Fire To Iranian Supreme Leader House

Protests have been going on for the past two months in Iran. The clashes with law enforcement agencies have so far killed more than 400 people. Recently videos circulated on social media showed the house of Iran’s first supreme leader on fire. Local authorities have not yet confirmed the news.

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini

Iran’s first supreme leader and the founder of the Islamic republic was a hard-core ultra-religious man who was the key figure behind the Iranian revolution of 1979. He emerged as a figure under the US-backed regime of shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Khomeini spent 14 years in exile and returned to Iran to take command of the new republic in 1979. He died in 1989 and his house was later converted into a museum.

Iran Denies

The Iranian media has officially denied the reports and blamed anti-Iran forces for “spreading lies and false information”. According to the Tasnim news agency of  Iran, the museum doors were still open to visitors.
