Joe Biden’s administration will resume talks with the Russian counterpart amid serious tensions between both countries. Putin has threatened to use nuclear weapons multiple times after its invasion of Ukraine. The Talks will take place in Cairo, Egypt in the near future. Both countries came together several times in the past to limit the number of nuclear arsenals.
Russia Not Expecting Outcome
Russia and the US agreed to sign a mutual START treaty in 2020 but it could not move forward due to the covid virus. The treaty was aimed at reducing the number of nuclear arsenals. Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergei Ryabkov did not show any positive signs about the treaty. The problems seem unlikely to be “solved in the course of a few days,” he mentioned.
The Importance
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there have been concerns about the nuclear capabilities of Russia and if they will come into play. The recent development is as important for the world as life.
